ACCOMPANIST, NORRIS NORWOOD
Norris Norwood has established himself nationally and internationally as a pianist and organist in a wide range of venues as soloist, chamber musician, and collaborator. He received his BM in Piano Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts where he also continued graduate studies and later served on the collaborative pianist staff. As a student, he was invited by the Russian government for a tour of concerts and study at the Moscow P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Rachmaninov Institute.
In addition to chamber music appearances throughout the southeastern US and festivals in New York and Michigan, Mr. Norwood has performed locally with the Winston-Salem and Greensboro Symphonies, Piedmont Opera Theater, Bel Canto Company and has recorded for both NC and SC Public Radio. As organist, he has played services at Southwark and Edinborough Cathedrals and concerts in Westminster Central Hall as guest artist with The London International Choral Festival.
Currently a free-lance pianist, Mr. Norwood also is organist at Ardmore Baptist Church and is a staff pianist at Guilford College. A member of the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s Visual and Performing Arts Committee which advocates for arts in healing, he is also collaborative pianist with the WFUBMC Medical Center Chorale.
